Weekend news

My girlfriend visited the reception for Dr. Campbell out at Hat Creek. She said it was crowded and very nice. Dr. Campbell has been a fixture in the community and has done a lot of good things, it's a shame to see him retire from practice.

She said write-in candidate Sonya Furgurson was out there, but she didn't get the chance to talk to her. She did get to talk to several other people that mentioned that they felt Sonya and Tamera would help change the council.

I also heard through the grapevine that Mrs. Meisenbach's mother was in a car accident Sunday morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family at this time.

Has anyone heard anything about the Dollar Duz It opening back up? It would be nice to have a store on Main Street again. I also heard that a steak house is in the works!

Very Cosmopolitan. A blog dedicated to my home town.

Indeed Dr. Campbell will be sorely missed as a Physician in town. I remember when he moved to Brookneal, and well remember seeing him as a patient many times. His knowledge of medicine was vast. As a previous head of the ER in Lynchburg he brought a lot to the town as well as the entire community.

Also, I recently had a chance to meet the 2 new write in candidates and talked with both of them in- depth and could tell in a short time that both are very civic minded and have a great amount of knowledge and experience to bring to the council, and ultimately the taxpayer's of Brookneal.
I don't live in town and can't vote there, but do wish them the best and I plan on attending the "Meet and Great the New Candidates" this Sat. 1.st at 4:00 on Clark St. and also look forward to speaking to Mr. Sheppard to see what idea's he has in mind for the town.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for Ms. Meisenbach's mother. I heard she was banged up quite badly.

Good luck to all and I hope the town folk will make a decision on Nov. 4th. that will benefit Brookneal overall as a community.
This seems to be the year of "Change" and will likely be a "make or break" election this year at not only local, but national levels.

Hope the steak house has a better sense of business.

Thank you for the kind comments about my mom. She's got a nasty head laceration, but is home from the hospital now.

Dr. Campbell is a nice guy, and he was very helpful when I had to move my mom back east. I hope he enjoys his retirement!

I'll be thrilled when the steak house is open! It will be nice to have an eatery on Main Street.

"NOT RELATED"

Happy Halloween, as far as that goes.
I wish I didn't feel "obligated" to give candy to the several groups of 20 or 30's or year olds knocking for treats.
Next year I'll have the sprinklers ready.
Still missing the cow, Mary.

Tracey,

I hope your mother is doing well now. Don't know if you will read this or not since it is an older blog. Just wanted you to know that I am sorry to hear she was in an accident and I hope she is fully recovered now.
