Sorry for the absence

I've been dealing with some family medical issues and haven't had time to post. I've been reading the papers and I'm glad to see that we do have a new town manager. Let's hope he has the back bone to stand up to the council and not get the town into another lawsuit.

why is it that every time you mention the town council it seems negative. Like they don't have it together

Do you think that all of them have it together?
Does a "together" council wait two years to get a town manager, while keeping someone that is totally unqualified in place?
Does a "together" council waste money on legal fees?

Seriously, are you saying that you approve of these screw ups?

What I am saying is that negativity gets us no where and I have been in this area a long time and it seems that negativity is always in the atmosphere. Positive attitudes is what brings success.
These people are in these positions doing the best they can. I'm sure running a town isn't that easy. And it is my experience that if I want someone to do a better job a constructive word and encouragement usually is what an individual will respond to. who wants to bashed all the time. and not just here but throughout this town I hear alot of that. And the person you speak of that is unqualified maybe he is on paper and I notice alot of people like to bash that individual.I dont think he asked to be put there but it looks like to me he took on something he didnt ask for and did the best he could and as for me, I have found him to be concerned and very helpful. But now you have a new hired in town manager. People with qualifications aren't always the best for a position sometimes is whats in a persons heart. and let me state this I am not saying that the man they just hired is not the best for the postionj because I dont know him and therefore I dont have an opinion of him. I am making a simple statement.

And to finish this I am saying we should show support and if we are not willing to be part of the solution then lets not be part of the problem either.

If getting us in multiple lawsuits is the best they can do then they need to resign. Two of the council members weren't named in the former clerk treasurer's suit, so they obviously did something right.
The "used to be acting as a town manager" got us into another lawsuit with one of our policemen, plus he ended up being paid more for temporary work than any town manager in the history of Brookneal.
Do you like your tax payer money being used to fund stupid lawsuits?
How about all the wasted money for consulting fees so the former town manager could get money from Brookneal, and the grants and the people he awarded bids too? Is that doing the best they can?

I'm already having a hard time swallowing the new town manager saying that Mayor Campbell is "awesome" and the Mr. Crews did a wonderful job. If he's already that brainwashed then I don't see this town improving. Looks like they one again hired someone that can't think for himself and is just a puppet for the mayor.

Dixie youth,

I agree with you. When I read last week's paper I thought "Here we go again, another brown noser"

I hope he proves me wrong.

I also wonder if the office and Mayor have told him of the existance of this blog, since I know they visit it, and who they are claiming is the author.
