For crying out loud!

Did anyone else see the Union Star? Is this accurate?
Mrs. Meisenbach did you really agree to a compromise on the salary?

Say it isn't so!

No, I did not agree to compromise. I am not in favor of the current budget because it does not address the future need of hiring a permanent town manager, nor is it equatable to the rest of our employees.
I don't know why the newspaper says I did agree, because anyone that sat in on the meeting ( which I have a recording of) knows I was not going to go along with it.

Oh come on...don't you all know that Mike Crews always gets what he wants?! Wait, didn't someone mention in an earlier post that he was going to quit or step down if he didn't get the full raise? So, where do I go to view his letter of resignation? ROFLMAO!! That's what I thought. Where's a three time convicted felon go to get another cushy job like this one. He knows what he's got. Why some council members are afraid of him I'll never understand.

Hey, I heard through the Brookneal grapevine that Mr. Gillispie was afraid of the NAACP getting involved if they disciplined Mike for any reason. What a joke. A bunch of panseys running the show.

Think I'll start a business selling backbones in Brookneal. There seems to be a huge shortage but a high demand!! I could get rich.

That is too fricking funny!
I think you could get rich. I've already got my own, but maybe I'll get a spare for when this one gets cut in half by all the knives sticking in my back.

Hey, I know all about those knives sticking in the back. Hmmm...on second thought, maybe there's a bigger demand for knives in town. I think I'll start a business selling knives. Yeah, that's it! Bet I could make a good profit at your next council meeting. There's no way they have any left in their cutlery supply.

Backbones and knives!! I think I've found the answer to the recession!! It's supply and demand. Thanks for the great idea! Is it too late to get a booth at the day in the town?

:-D

Truth Seeker,

Just stopping by, but if you bring knives to a political meeting please alert the media first, I want to see the news clips!

My money is on the horse woman in a knife fight. She's the only one with back bone enough to post here.

Ms. Meisenbach,

Thanks for stepping up and clearing the air. I was getting worried that you given up the good fight!

I hope Mr. Jennings and Mr. Jean will also stand firm and not approve the budget. I hope Mr. Hailey will come around and see how offensive to the other employees it is.

Can anyone tell me anything about the little cemetary behind the Beyond Video? I have noticed it several times and today I walked up to look at it. Some of those graves are really old, and from the looks of it there are children buried there.

Brookneal Blogger,

I've noticed the little cemetary too, my daughter and I visited it last fall. I think it is a family graveyard.

The next time you're at Beyond Video go to the back of the building and look left. The two story white/bare wood building that is back behind the shopping center is a Rosenwald School. It is a very important building in the community and I hope it can be saved.

I find these types of thing fascinating about the community. I know there are other hidden treasures around here, I just have to search them out.

Wow, Tracy, that's fascinating! Is anybody making any moves to preserve it?

Gaia,

I've been in contact with some state agencies and the Rosenwald Foundation, but so far no one has stepped up interested in funding preservation. It's a shame because it is a historically significant building.
The last word I had from the town was that they were going to submit a proposal to the VHPS for it to be torn down.
