So what happened?

I just got back in to town tonight and missed the meeting. What happened? Any fireworks or arguments?

Not a lot happened. Some of the PA showed up. Mrs. Jennings read a letter from Ken Jennings, since he had to be out of town, about how he did not feel the budget should be approved. There was a discussion about the USDA grant, and how there seems to be some issues between the engineering firm and the grant people.
The K-9 grant was approved, and Walmart also gifted us $1000.00 towards the K-9 stuff.

A gentleman named Mr. Hummel approached the council about starting a teen center so the teens in the community would have somewhere to go and things to do. I hope everyone will support this effort, it is so needed!

Other than that not a whole lot went on.

Thank you for the update, it's nice to get one before the paper comes out.

I've noticed you coming in an out of the place under the hardware store, rumor has it you're opening some kind of business. Dare I hope that it's a bar with real Guiness on tap? Or a sports bar?

Right, like that would ever get approved! I could just see the zoning request!

No, I'm opening a grooming shop in the old salon under the hardware store. I groomed professionally and showed dogs for over 16 years. I figure with the price of gas, and the time it takes, people might be more interested in getting their animals groomed locally, instead of driving to Lynchburg.

I won't be able to offer you a beer, but could certainly trim your hair! vbeg!

Thank you,

I find it strange that your
opening a dog business when you've spent so much time trying to lock dogs up. If you hate dogs so much why are you trying to make money off of them?

You know, this is just another one of the rumors that the people who really don't have a clue spread. I don't ask for a leash law because I dislike dogs. I ask for a leash law because I like dogs enough to want to protect them. In case you haven't noticed when a dog vs car situation occurs the car usually wins. Dog vs poison or dog vs log truck also usually results in one thing: dead dog. I love my dogs, so I keep them up or on a leash. They are allowed to run on MY property. They are safe, healthy and don't annoy anyone else.

For the record I also think people need to make sure their children wear seltbelts, but it doesn't mean I hate kids just because I want them kept restrained in the car.
